PROFILE

Born in Tokyo in 1934. Animation Filmmaker, Founder of Shirogumi, Inc., Film producer. After graduation from Tokyo University of the Arts, started to work at Toei Animation in the first group of new recruits there. Participated in “Legend of the White Snake”, Japan’s first feature color animation film. From Toei Animation moved to Gakken and Tokyo Commercial before going independent in 1973 and establishing Shimamura Planning Office. Established Shirogumi Inc. in 1974. Production of numerous television commercials and film exhibits at expositions, as well as many films including “Always Sanchome no Yuhi”. Works produced as animation filmmaker include “Illusion City” (1967), “Kacho Fugetsu” (Four Seasons of Japan) (1985), “Shintateyama Mandara Ezu” (Shintateyama Mandala Drawing) (1993), “Kappa” (Water Imp) (1999), “Shintateyama Mandara Ezu 2” (Shintateyama Mandala Drawing 2) (2001) and more.
